FAQs

What is ALUFIX cling film made of?

ALUFIX offers two types of cling film. Our standard option is made from high-quality polyethylene, a food-safe plastic that provides a reliable seal to keep food fresh. Our premium option is made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride), which offers superior stretch and cling, making it ideal for professional kitchens and extended food preservation.

Can I use ALUFIX cling film to freeze food?

Yes, ALUFIX cling film can be used to wrap food for freezing. It provides a tight seal that helps prevent freezer burn and protects the food from moisture and air exposure. For best results, make sure the film is wrapped tightly around the food to eliminate any air pockets.

Is ALUFIX cling film biodegradable?

ALUFIX cling film is not biodegradable. However, the polyethylene film from our standard range can be recycled if it is clean and free from food residues. Recycling helps reduce plastic waste and supports more sustainable resource use. The PVC film from our premium range, however, is not recyclable, but both options help reduce food waste by preserving freshness and extending the shelf life of your products.

Can I make poached eggs using cling film?

Yes, ALUFIX cling film can be used to make poached eggs. Simply line a small bowl with cling film, crack the egg into the film, twist and tie the top, and carefully place it in hot water. Ensure the water is hot but not boiling, as polyethylene cling film should not be exposed to temperatures above 100°C when in direct contact with food. The film helps shape the egg and prevents it from dispersing in the water. Avoid using the PVC cling film for cooking, as it’s not intended for direct heating.

What is better for wrapping, aluminum foil or cling film?

The choice between aluminum foil and cling film depends on your storage and transportation needs. Aluminum foil is ideal for wrapping foods that require protection from moisture and light, making it perfect for items like grilled meats, baked goods, and leftovers. It helps keep foods warm longer if needed and is also effective in preserving flavors. Cling film, on the other hand, is best for covering dishes and sealing items for storage in the refrigerator or during transport. Its transparency allows you to see the contents easily, making it convenient for identifying wrapped foods. For optimal storage and transportation, use aluminum foil for cooked foods (hot or cold) and cling film for raw ingredients and not hot food.
